Woks Wong

Woks Wong, The Mikado Buildings, 79 Elm Grove, Southsea, City of Portsmouth, 2016 • Punning Chinese takeaway in the aptly oriental Mikado Buildings, named after the Gilbert & Sullivan opera. The theatrical premises was built to house the New Mikado Cafe, offshoot of an even grander Mikado Cafe nearby. Gents’ outfitters John Baker occupied one wing and jeweller Arthur Weeks the other – not sure which of those occupied this side, though.
