Jim’s Cafe

Jim’s Cafe, 59 Chatsworth Road, Clapton, Borough of Hackney, London E5, 2011 • Italian cafe from the 1960s that once housed an ice cream factory, and closed circa 2008 when the (non-original) owner died. The frontage is still there, but it’s now a sourdough-serving hipster cafe (getting patchy reviews on Tripadvisor in early 2017, before being relaunched under new management in late 2017). There’s a good article here and some photos from its caff days here.

  1. It’s important that we record these hidden gems before they are all redeveloped and turned into bland shi*e!
