Odeon Arcade

Odeon Arcade, Market Place, Leicester LE1, 2016 • As the name suggests, a former fleapit. First opened in 1924 as the City Cinema, by 1964 it was an Odeon, and – hard to believe now – one of the UK’s most luxurious cinemas. Killed off by TV, it closed in the 1970s, and has decayed ever since. It’s due for demolition: there are plans to keep one facade and turn the rest into student flats
