The Chocolate Box

The Chocolate Box, Farncombe Street, Farncombe, Godalming, Surrey, 2016 • Wooden-lettered ghost sign on what looks like a private house, but presumably used to be the local sweetshop. Love the way the car matches the building’s colourway.

  1. Yes, it was indeed one of Farncombe’s sweet shops when I was growing up there in the 60s and 70s (the other main two being Patrick’s in St. John’s Street, and Goodman’s just a bit further along on the other side of the level crossing) It was run by the Langridges. I remember buying Jamboree bags, AB&C Batman bubble gum cards, 3D lollies and all sorts there. Great shop! Nice that the old sign is still there!
