Empire Milk Bar

Empire Milk Bar, Picadilly Circus Tube Station, City of Westminster, London W1, 1988 • True fact – there was a 1930s-style milk bar operational in the orange-columned depths of Piccadilly Circus tube station until the late 1980s. Not great photos, sadly – I was surreptitiously shooting film in semi-darkness so they’re shaky, but it’s still worth seeing. The station was a right grubby hole back then; it’s all hipster coffee joints now.
