Sew Fantastic!, Tintype

Sew Fantastic!, Tintype, 107 Essex Road, Islington, Borough of Islington, London N1, 2012 and 2016 • Grubby but grand Sew Fantastic (top pic) is now scrubbed clean as Tintype art gallery (second pic). The punters milling around inside were following art critic Paul Carey-Kent on an Islington art walk, which I kept dodging out of to photograph shops. Bottom is a shot of the whole old parade, including famous stuffed animal emporium Get Stuffed; the confusingly-named Fireworks Chrismas Shop, which later became Islington Nails; and a beauty salon named after the East German secret police (well, it is Jeremy Corbyn’s constituency).
