HSBC (Hockley)

HSBC (Hockley), 168 Warstone Lane, Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham B18, 2005 • Lovely little bank with Victorian sculpture above the door, which is still the same nowOne source says it dates from 1892 and was a London and City Bank, and the original door is all that remains. Another source says that in the 1900s it was a branch of the Birmingham District and Counties Banking Co. I can’t find out much about the sculpture, but it represents a banker above symbols of industry and a Brum coat of arms. I’ll go back one day and get a better shot of it…
