L. Fern & Co., 27 Rathbone Place, City of Westminster, London W1, 2001 • Oh, if only I had taken more than one snatched shot of this venerable coffee merchant, here sporting subtle Christmas decorations around the beans. It seemed like a permanent fixture, but by 2008 had become gift boutique Multipazz, and is currently retro photography store Aperture. A version of Fern’s – which according to this article fired up its first roaster in 1863 – now trades online.
I worked here for a couple of years in the 1980’s it was a wonderful place to work with a fantastic interior and a roasting plant down a small side street run by an amandine West Indian guy whose accent I never under in all the time I was ther!
Thanks for the comment. I worked around there in the 1980s but I never went in!
