David Pluck, The Blob Shop

David Pluck, The Blob Shop, 40 Great Charlotte Street, Liverpool L1, 2003 • Pub beneath bookie beneath Yates’s Wine Lodge ghost sign, all still there. According to this Bad Pub Guide The Blob Shop is a holding bay for Pluck punters, who enjoy tippling a treacly cheap wine called Aussie White. Comments include: “The pub isn’t so much as next to a bookmakers, but more as if it’s in a symbiotic relationship with it … a time capsule to the pubs of fifty years ago” and “This isn’t just an old man’s pub. This is an old bastard’s pub”.
