De Marco, 37 Junction Road, Archway, Borough of Islington, London N19, 2003 • More superannuated Italy, in the eternally down-at-heel backwaters of Archway. It’s now estate agent Barstow Eves, so perhaps gentrification beckons.

What a shame it’s gone. And to be replaced by an estate agent is like an insult. 🙂
Very true! Though it looks like it may not have been great in the food department by this time…

I was born and lived around the corner from De Marco. Great ice cream and a great family. I remember a homeless man who was given an ice cream every day. I have very fond memories of that period of time.
I use to stop off for an great slice of Cheesecake on my way back home, after visiting Manzes Pie and Mash shop in Holloway Road (Archway) both these places were brilliant back in the 60’s, Great Italian family run business, I’m sorry to see the pictures looked very run down and shabby unlike the early days.
Thanks for your memories of if. I wish I’d got a better picture of it, you can tell it was great in its day!
