Silver and Edgington

Silver and Edgington, 18 Arwenack Street, Falmouth, Cornwall, 2010 • I caught Falmouth’s premier camping-cum-tailoring emporium just on its way out – wish I’d witnessed it in its tents-and-flags glory days (although maybe I did – I often visited Falmouth as a child). The sign’s black sobriety was soon replaced by the gaudy blobbiness of Kernow Toymaster.

  1. I lived in Falmouth as a child and my Dad was the Manager of Silver and Edgington on Arwenack Street, for 5 years until we moved to Newcastle on Tyne. We spoke often of his elite store, and printed photos of it for him to keep. Our family had a wonderful few years living there on Dracaena Avenue. Sadly he passed away in May of this year at the age of 92. Treasured memories.

    • Thanks for your comment, what a wonderful memory. It looks like it was a beautiful shop. Falmouth is in a stunning part of the country, no wonder you enjoyed living there for a while.
