Manchester Victoria Station kiosks

Victoria Station, Station Approach, Manchester, 2010 • Grand European cities like Vienna are stuffed with beautiful old commercial typography, but in the workaday UK, it’s rare indeed. Glad Manchester’s rather unloved “second” station kept these mosaic kiosk signs, albeit ill-served by the modern intrusions. There’s a superb tiled map in the lobby, too (bottom image).

  1. Hi,
I enjoyed seeing your photos of the mosaic kiosk signs. I’m potentially going to be making repairs to these signs after the scaffolding comes down in the next phase of refurbishment work. I don’t have any photos at present due to the signage being obscured and I wondered if you would be happy to let me have some copies of your photos for reference?
