Bile Beans, Bob Trotter’s

Bile Beans, Bob Trotter’s, 18 and 13-15 Lord Mayor’s Walk , York, North Yorkshire, 2011 • A famous digestive fluid-related ghost sign, now (somewhat off-puttingly) on the side of a cutesy tea shop. It was photographed from York’s walls – below is a wider view, also showing an elderly sign for the appropriately-named Bob Trotter’s Cycle Hire. Founded 1955, this is York’s oldest cycle store. It’s still owned by the same family, but in 2011 was refurbished and renamed Giant.
