Tower

Tower (Tokyo Hull), 52 Anlaby Road, Kingston upon Hull, 2013 A rather grubby topless lady keeps vigil over this magnificent 1914 cinema designed by H Percival Binks, which has been a nightclub on and off since the 1980s. The 2003 owner removed the domes (illegally, it’s Grade II listed) –you can see it looking very sad without its domes here. These are new copies by mosaic artist Paul Bull, who talks about it in the comments thread here. My 2013 photo shows the venue newly restored as “super mansion club” (whatever that is) Tokyo Hull – but by 2015 it had become Funktion.
