Sheila’s Aladins Cave & Wool Shop

Sheila’s Aladins Cave & Wool Shop, 181 High Street, Herne Bay, Kent, 2004 Two target customers bypassing a mis-spelled, yellow-filmed knitting shop channelling spirit of 1970s granny, as faded seaside towns tend to do. By 2009, Google Streetview shows it closed down with sad net curtains masking the windows, surrounded by wasteland. I doubt it’s still there now.

  1. I met Sheila Seager the owner of this shop and she was the sweetest most wonderful teller of stories gone by and times long ago. She would often come into the Opticians where I worked and have her glasses adjusted over a cup of tea. A truly wonderful character steeped in charm and a terrific sense of humour as she would often laugh. Sadly missed xx
