  1. I don’t know if you have Sheffield connections but you may be interested in a blog that was set up a few years ago called Shop Fronts of Sheffield! Unfortunately it is currently inactive. Here is a link if you are interested to take a look: http://shopfrontsofsheffield.tumblr.com/ I didn’t run the blog but did make lots of photographic contributions. One of my all time favourite shop front photographs that I shot has to be of Sharrowvale Launderette featuring the wonderful artwork of Phlegm on the boards covering a broken window. The Launderette was still open when the shot was taken but is sadly now no longer with us. I love the sign and artwork and how they appear to compliment each other. There is a picture on my Postcard Cafe blog: http://postcardcafe.wordpress.com/2011/04/20/doing-your-laundry-in-public-recent-work-by-phlegm/
    Best wishes, N 🙂

    • Thanks for your comment, nice blog you’ve got there, I like the use of photo-galleries. That Phlegm (yuk) launderette is great, I remember seeing some of their work around the place. I was only in Sheffield for a few days, so just grabbed a couple of interesting shops when I saw them – I’m hardly an expert on the town. Looks like a lot of it got redeveloped in the noughties before I managed to get there. I do remember spotting some Phlegm work.

      • Yes Sheffield had lots of redevelopment through the 90s and noughties including the building of the supertram network. Many of the old little mesters buildings have been replaced with aweful looking city living student flats. Phlegm recently painted a huge window at the city centre Millennium Gallery and is now one of the most respected street artists in the world and his paintings adorn the walls of many city centres across the globe. Sadly most people don’t get beyond his name. Which is a shame because his murals, ink drawings, screenprints and comics are simply wonderful. And he is possibly one of the nicest blokes you could wish to meet. His new self published book with a handprinted cover is a complete treasure. I look forward to following your blog, best wishes, 🙂
