  1. Hello Vici. I hope you’re well. I’ve been meaning to contact you for some time, since I first saw your fantastic images of two of the shops on Manor Place. It’s a real treat for me to see them as they once appeared because I’m local to the area and walk past this magnificent row of Victorian terraced shops most mornings. Sadly, they’re still boarded up with the pinkish purple hoarding and although there’s always some kind development plans they don’t seem to make any progress.
I just wondered, did you ever photograph the other shops in this row?

    • Hi John, I’m glad you like them. I was aware that the row of shops were still boarded up. The area has certainly changed around them since they were first boarded. I have regularly returned to the area and photographed it so I daresay I do have photos of the other shops. However they are all buried in a database which is currently off-line, so I couldn’t say for sure.

      • I’m sure you have 1000s of photos in your offline database. I’ve also taken thousands of photos of the Elephant and its neighbouring areas. I moved to SE17 in 2002 and it wasn’t long before I became aware of the Manor Place row of Victorian shops. I’ve only ever know it to be boarded up so I reckon this must have happened shortly after you took your photos.
I do have a couple of photos from John Harvard Library of these shops when they were open and soon after they were all closed but both photos are taken from the end of the row and therefore offer less detail than your fantastic photos taken directly opposite. If you ever find photos of the other shops then I’d be very happy to see them. 🙂

      • I moved to the area in 1997 and started taking photos circa 2001, with an early digital camera so they’re not that great. But if I do locate any other decent shots I’ll let you know. It’s good us people are recording this.
